I need a travel agent. I am taking a trip to Lome, Togo in the March/April timeframe and need to take about 126lbs. of dialysis fluid with me.

There will be about 10-12 of us going so if you have a good group rate then I will pass it along to my people. However, my main concern is being able to bring my dialysis fluid with me on the trip.

I am so happy to see this article and the great explanation of what many of us do. We are definitely mislabeled and misunderstood. I just recently became a TA and had to go through extensive training, but it will better me to help my clients in the future. We can definitely alleviate the headaches & worries and help save time and money. Many of our services are free of charge so why wouldn’t you want to use a travel agent.? We have been to most of the places we sell or have had personal tours of most destinations. We can make suggestions and offer our experience. I love watching Samantha Brown and always said one day I’ll be just like that traveling around the world. Well, I’m working on that dream right now and helping others see the beauty in travel. Big fan for years and so happy to see new Places to Love come out! It took me a LOT of hours to plan a custom itinerary for a family member going to Ireland on a heritage trip. Travel agents may not be very useful for a weekend jaunt or domestic trip, but we can do wonders for you if you’re scratching your head wondering how far your vacation budget will go or how to plan a complex round the world itinerary.

Thanks so much for the great article and for realizing that, even in our world, we still need the human factor when dealing with our clients’ very important (and often expensive) investment in and excitement about their vacations. Sadly, there are travel agents and there are travel agents. And one group is in it for all the wrong reasons. If you are fortunate to have a GOOD agent, you’re golden. Ask around for a referral. Too many of those “tweed suits” as mentioned in the article give the rest of us good agents a bad rep. As someone else commented, it’s nice to have a travel professional take care of all the details, pre and post travel.
